As the industry for cannabis changes and become more regulated, California State Assembly requires any licensed cannabis business in California to provide a Cal/OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety course to one supervisor and one employee. This certificate will enable cannabis industry-specific safety awareness to help in recognizing and reducing the risks of workplace injury. This course emphasizes hazard awareness, avoidance, control & prevention. The course is designed for supervisors or workers with safety responsibilities.


Occupational health and safety regulations that may apply to employers in the cannabis industry included in this training:


  • Introduction to OSHA and Cal/OSHA

  • Managing Safety and Health

  • Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection

  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection

  • Electrical

  • Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Materials Handling

  • Hazard Communication

  • Health Hazards Electives – Hazardous Material (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations)/Permit‐Required Confined Spaces/Lockout/Tagout/Machine Guarding/Welding, Cutting, and Brazing/Bloodborne Pathogens/Ergonomics/Fall Protection/Safety and Health Programs/Powered Industrial Vehicles/Heat Illness Prevention/Cranes & Hoisting Equipment Record Keeping (300, 300A, 301)
