The Nevada County Cannabis Alliance is proud to spotlight our members who are making a positive impact in their communities. Through these stories, we share the history of their farms, the ways they engage with and support their local communities, and what inspires their passion for this work. We hope these profiles offer a deeper look into our remarkable member community and the dedication, care, and love they bring to both their plants and the people around them.

ABOUT FOODOO FARM

Foodoo Farm is a longtime, family-run heritage farm rooted in Nevada County since 1989. They came here, put down roots, bought land, raised their family, and built a life around caring for the land and growing cannabis and food.

Today, their fully sustainable and organic farm includes approximately 15,000 square feet of cannabis canopy, along with an orchard and a lively collection of farm animals—including cats, dogs, and miniature donkeys.

They built their home and farm themselves, and are always working to improve and care for it, making it more beautiful and sustainable with each passing year.

Much of their time is spent outdoors, working in the soil and surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the farm and the variety of birds that call it home.

THEIR MISSION

“’Foodoo’ is a family word they created that means ‘putting your best into whatever you do.’

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Brian continues to work as a General Contractor, while Barbara organizes free community events through the local library, including dog parades, kite days, and other family-friendly activities.

They are both active on local nonprofit boards and have been longtime volunteers with SYRCL, supporting river water monitoring, leading river and community cleanup days, and serving as River Ambassadors.

They've also been active in protecting the agricultural community they call home. They worked alongside neighbors in the effort to pass No on W and were early members of the Nevada County Cannabis Alliance, supporting the interests of farmers and working to preserve the character and future of Nevada County cannabis.
