Recently we put out a 24-hour survey to find out what kind of setbacks would work for most farmers in Nevada County. The setbacks conversation is a heated one as we move forward with drafting cultivation regulations.
On one hand we have some county residents complaining that even the very restrictive setbacks we have in place right now – 100 to 300 feet depending on parcel size – are not enough to keep cannabis gardens and the smell out of sight and out of mind.
However, such setbacks have rendered many responsible farmers out of compliance. The Alliance is advocating for reasonable setbacks that can be adjusted depending on land shape, topography and neighbor waivers.
Here is what the 150 people who responded feel should be reasonable setbacks that would allow them to stay compliant with a cultivation ordinance.
