Cannabis farmers here in Nevada County and all over the state have been anxiously waiting to see what the new regulatory framework the state of California will implement beginning January 1, 2018.
Wait no more. The Bureau of Cannabis Control, formerly named the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation, is in charge of developing regulations pursuant to the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) to establish a regulatory licensing and enforcement program for commercial cannabis distributors, retailers, testing laboratories, and microbusinesses.
An Initial Study/Proposed Negative Declaration was released earlier this month outlining the regulations cannabis business will have to comply with next year.
This is a good time to begin the process of educating yourself on state compliance issues, even if Nevada County has yet to release its local cannabis cultivation and business regulations.
