The Board of Supervisors Has Made a Bold Move Regarding Cannabis in Nevada County
The Board of Supervisors is expected to direct the Community Advisory Group on what priority items to focus on and what items they are forbidden from considering at a special meeting Tuesday.
The special meeting was first announced at a CAG meeting earlier in July, when officials from MIG INC, the third-party facilitator told the 16-member community panel that the county wanted to outline priorities for the group as they craft recommendations for a new cannabis cultivation ordinance in Nevada County.
In addition to outlining the items that the BOS says it will allow county staff, and not the CAG, to recommend, the county is expected to unveil the results of a survey it conducted to measure the level of support for cannabis, seemingly disregarding voting results from the June and November elections when Nevada County voters defeated a ban on outdoor cultivation and approved the Adult Use Marijuana Act.
Please show up to participate in this process. Request that the BOS allow the CAG to finish its job of crafting recommendations and suggest that the county allow a fully integrated cannabis industry as spelled out in California State Cannabis Regulations. If you need additional talking points, stop by the office between 8 and 8:45 am Tuesday morning. See you all there!
